Biography

Karma R Chavez is the Department Chair of Mexican American Latino/a Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. Her research interests primarily lie in queer politics, LGBTQ social movements, LGBTQ immigration issues, and the histories of HIV/AIDS. Additionally, she is the host of UT's LGBTQ Studies podcast, Audio QT, and an organizer for LGBT Books for Prisoners, a program based in Madison, Wisconsin that sends books and educational materials to incarcerated queer and trans individuals.
