Biography

Karsten Theil Hansen is a Professor of Marketing at the UC San Diego Rady School of Management, holding the Duane Nelles Jr. Endowed Chair in Corporate Governance. His research primarily focuses on the application of Bayesian learning and machine learning artificial intelligence frameworks to understand human behavior in markets. Professor Hansen teaches courses in Rady's Master's in Business Analytics program. Prior to his current position, he was an Associate Professor of Marketing at Northwestern University, where he participated in the Marketing Science Institute's Young Scholar program and served as the Kraft Research Professor. He completed his Ph.D. in Economics at Brown University, where he was awarded the Alfred P. Sloan Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship and the Abramson Award for Exceptional Dissertation Progress. His expertise includes Computational Social Science and Bayesian Statistics.
