Dr. Karthik Duraisamy

Biography

Karthik Duraisamy is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Michigan. He also serves as the Associate Director of the Michigan Institute for Computational Discovery and Engineering (MICDE). He has a PhD in Aerospace Engineering and a Master's degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of Maryland, College Park, as well as an undergraduate degree from the Indian Institute of Science in Aerospace Engineering and from Coimbatore Institute of Technology in Mechanical Engineering. His research focuses on advancing the field of Computational Science and Engineering with applications in Aerodynamics, High-Speed Flows, and Turbulence Modeling and Simulation. He employs High-Performance Computing techniques and explores Vortical Flows and Uncertainty Quantification, alongside Rotorcraft Aeromechanics, using Adjoint-Based methods for Optimization. His work contributes significantly to the understanding and modeling of complex fluid dynamics problems.
