Biography

Karyn Lee Boyar is a Clinical Associate Professor at NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing, where she also directs the Master Clinical Nursing Research Program. She is a Certified Nurse Educator and an educator specializing in family nurse practice, particularly in neurology and long-term care. With two decades of experience in healthcare and ten years in clinical care management, she has focused her research on managing Parkinson’s disease and Dystonia. Boyar has been instrumental in creating outreach initiatives for individuals with Parkinson’s disease, including community symposia and support groups, and has taught unique movement classes incorporating live music to enhance their quality of life. Prior to her role at NYU, she served as the Clinical Specialty Coordinator at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and the designated outreach coordinator for the National Parkinson Center of Excellence. Boyar earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice, as well as her Master's and Bachelor's degrees in nursing, from Pace University. Her current scholarship emphasizes integrating Design Thinking Models into nursing education for large classrooms. She has presented her work at various levels and contributed to multiple book chapters on innovative teaching strategies.
