Biography

Kasey Claborn is a licensed clinical psychologist and an Associate Professor in the School of Social Work at the University of Texas at Austin, as well as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Dell Medical School. As a Steve Hicks Fellow, Claborn directs the Addiction Recovery Services at the Addictions Research Institute. His research is centered on improving addiction system care through community-based participatory research methods and system science approaches. He has expertise in drug policy and the design and implementation of digital technologies aimed at enhancing care coordination and community overdose prevention efforts. In 2021, Claborn received an international award from Google for his innovative work in building technologies that promote social impact. His ongoing projects focus on merging both traditional and non-traditional overdose surveillance methods to inform data-driven community responses to addiction challenges.
