Biography

Kasia Bijak is a Lecturer in Management Science at the University of Southampton. Her research focuses on applying quantitative methods to credit scoring, particularly in the areas of statistical methods, including Bayesian inference, data mining, artificial intelligence, stochastic processes, and econometrics. She has been recognized for her work on developing dynamic consumer risk models and addressing challenges in credit scoring, such as dynamic affordability assessments and evaluating the performance of Loss Given Default (LGD) models. Kasia obtained her MSc in Quantitative Methods for Information Systems from the Warsaw School of Economics in 2004 and later transitioned into banking, where she worked at a leading credit reference agency. She pursued a PhD at the University of Southampton, awarded in 2013, focusing on segmentation and modelling issues related to credit scoring. Since September 2013, she has been teaching various modules, including Introduction to Business Analytics and SAS Base Programming, at Southampton Business School.
