Biography

I studied Chemical Engineering at the University of Twente and received my PhD degree at TU Delft in 1993. My research interests have shifted from polymer processing, specifically injection moulding (1988-2000), to encapsulation of microelectronic components (2001-2012), and currently focus on smart materials and electronic textiles (2012-present). My current research aims to develop textile-based sensors manufactured using standard industrial equipment like programmable knitting and weaving machines. The main application areas are the development of sensor textiles for sports and health care.
