Kasper Jansen is a full professor of European Liability Law at the Erasmus School of Law. His research focuses on the European dimensions of Dutch private law, particularly liability law. A recurring theme in his recent work is the public law influences that Dutch private law undergoes due to 'Europe'. His inaugural lecture titled 'Stoomwals en wegbereider' (2022) describes how these public law influences can threaten but also enrich our private law. As a professor, he teaches courses in the Bachelor's program in Law and the Master's programs in Private Law, Liability Law, and Insurance. Since 2022, he has been co-leading the Civil Law chair group alongside Professor Koen Swinnen. Jansen obtained his doctorate cum laude in 2012 from Leiden University with a dissertation on information duties within the law of obligations. He has worked as a lawyer in The Hague for six years and was a researcher at the Scientific Bureau of the Dutch Supreme Court for four years. Additionally, he serves as a substitute judge at the Arnhem-Leeuwarden Court and is the editor-in-chief of the Dutch Journal of Civil Law (NTBR).
