Dr. Katarina Grolinger

Biography

Katarina Grolinger is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Western University, where she also holds a Canada Research Chair (Tier 2) in Engineering Applications of Machine Learning. Grolinger earned her Ph.D. in Software Engineering from Western University, along with M.Eng. in Software Engineering from the same institution. She also obtained her M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Zagreb, Croatia. Her research focuses on developing data analytics solutions within the energy domain, big data processing, and clickstream data analytics, often in collaboration with industry partners to address real-world challenges. Grolinger has over ten years of experience in various roles such as software engineer and database administrator. Her contributions to the field have been recognized through awards, including the Engineering Junior Faculty Award for Excellence in Research in 2022. She is actively involved in mentoring prospective graduate students with interests in machine learning.
