Biography

Katarzyna Dziwirek is Professor Emerita at the University of Washington specializing in linguistics. She earned her Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of California, San Diego in 1991. Dziwirek has published extensively in areas including syntax, morphology, typology, corpus linguistics, cross-cultural semantics, pragmatics, and bilingualism. She has also contributed to studies involving various Slavic languages, such as Bosnian, Croatian, Montenegrin, Serbian, Bulgarian, Czech-Slovak, Polish, Romanian, Slovene, and Ukrainian. Her academic pursuits are driven by a commitment to understanding linguistic structures and their functional applications across different cultures.
