Biography

In 2021, Kate obtained her doctorate in Sociology focusing on gender. Her thesis combined the theories of American philosopher Judith Butler on gender performativity and French philosopher Michel Foucault regarding power in the workplace. Kate is currently completing her Level Seven Chartered Membership with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, where she concentrates on strategic human resources and learning development. She has worked with large sports organizations including McLaren Racing, Manchester City FC, Leeds United, and Swim England, undertaking numerous projects concentrating on inclusion with the UK Government’s Department of Education and Home Office. Presently, she is involved in a large-scale project with the Metropolitan Police. A lifelong fan of sports and physical education, Kate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Physical Education Teaching and has Qualified Teacher Status, having taught in various schools in West Yorkshire before finishing her teaching career as an Assistant Headteacher at Springwell Academy in Leeds. Her research focuses on HR inclusion for the female workforce, along with a socio-cultural examination of women and girls in sports and physical education, emphasizing sex-based equalities. Kate supervises MA and PhD students and is open to research proposals around these topics. Her work is aligned with educating management and policy research aimed at influencing national and international policy debates in education.
