Biography

Kate Gerber leads the Personalised Medicine research group at the sitem Center for Translational Medicine and Biomedical Entrepreneurship at the University of Bern. She received her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Bern in 2014. She also completed her Bachelor's degrees in Biomedical Science Engineering with a focus on electronics and computer systems from Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia, in 2009, and in Computer Science from the University of Melbourne, Australia, in 2004. Her research interests lie in advanced imaging guidance applications that require high accuracy, which includes computer-based surgical planning, instrument tracking, and sensor-based safety systems. She works on developing image-guided robotics and systems for image-based diagnosis and treatment outcome prediction, as well as improving system-user interfaces for surgical applications.
