Biography

With nearly two decades of experience in observational research studies and clinical trials, Kate Grabowski is dedicated to advancing the understanding and control of HIV and non-sexually transmitted infections, particularly in African contexts. Her research centers on employing mixed methods approaches, along with special emphasis on molecular epidemiology. Currently, she serves as the lead investigator for the Rakai Community Cohort Study in Uganda, which is one of the largest longitudinal population HIV surveillance cohorts globally. Additionally, she oversees the NIH-funded IN-STEP study, a randomized trial aimed at improving HIV and sexually transmitted infection outcomes among Ugandan women through integrated testing strategies. Grabowski's research interests broadly include HIV transmission and epidemic control in Africa, molecular epidemiology of HIV/pathogens, women's reproductive and sexual health, and pandemic preparedness.
