Biography

Kate Rigby is a Teaching Associate at the University of Cambridge's Faculty of Education, with a strong focus on inclusive education and the teaching of primary humanities and mathematics. She has a background as a classroom teacher and has specialized in Primary Mathematics, serving as the Strategic Lead for Teaching and Learning at a large primary school. Additionally, she is a co-opted governor at a primary school, providing small group tutoring for students. In her role as a professional studies tutor for the Primary PGCE program, Kate supervises Master’s courses in Primary Education and leads the teaching of humanities for Primary PGCE students. She is an active member of the editorial board of the Historical Association's Primary History journal and has served as an assessor for the Primary PGCE program and an external examiner for the BA Education course at Roehampton University. Her personal research interests are centered around disability and inclusive education, and she is currently investigating the experiences of neurodivergent students in initial teacher education courses. Additionally, she is a member of the Faculty’s Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion committee as well as the Inclusive Spaces working group.
