Biography

Kate White is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Southern California, with a research focus on Quantitative Computational Biology. She received her Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in August 2014. Her research aims to bridge the gap between structural biology and physiology by pioneering new experimental and computational tools for multi-scale structural biology, ranging from atomic to cellular scales. A major focus of her lab is to explore how beta cells regulate insulin hormone processing and maturation. This includes utilizing a combination of chemical biology, multi-modal imaging, biophysical approaches, and computational modeling. As an educator, she teaches various courses, including CHEM 599 on Basic Principles and Methods of Multiscale Spatial Biology and CHEM 432 on Physical Chemistry in Life Sciences at USC Dornsife.
