Biography

Katherine (Kate) Wong is a proud two-time alumna of the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Calgary, having completed both her Bachelor of Nursing in 2012 and her PhD in Nursing in 2025. With a clinical background in pediatric hospice and palliative care as well as pediatric acute care, Kate's research program focuses on the experiences of children and families in pediatric palliative care. She is actively involved at the University of Calgary and within the Faculty of Nursing, serving in leadership roles, including President of the UCalgary Nursing Alumni Committee and President Chair of the University of Calgary Board of Directors. Furthermore, she contributes to the Alberta Registered Nurses Education Trust Board of Directors. Her research addresses significant challenges faced by adolescents and young adults with neurological congenital life-shortening illnesses as they transition from pediatric to adult palliative care services, emphasizing the need for continuity of care to improve health outcomes during these transitions. Kate's work aims to better understand and enhance the experiences of families navigating this complex process.
