Dr. Katharine Wenstrom

Biography

Katharine D. Wenstrom, MD is a prominent figure in the field of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, serving as the director of the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Women & Infants Hospital in Rhode Island. She is also the head of Prenatal Diagnosis Centers located in Providence, New Bedford, and Foxboro, Massachusetts. As a professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, Dr. Wenstrom is recognized nationally for her expertise in managing high-risk pregnancies. She earned her bachelor's degree in biology, cum laude, from Case Western Reserve University, followed by a master's degree in pathology from Columbia University, and her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Her medical training includes a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology and fellowships in Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Medical Genetics. Dr. Wenstrom is board-certified in Obstetrics, Gynecology, Maternal-Fetal Medicine, and Medical Genetics, and has played a leadership role in her field, serving as president of the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine and on the executive board of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She has published over 100 peer-reviewed research papers and contributed significantly to the research and understanding of maternal-fetal medicine and genetics, earning multiple awards for her work. Dr. Wenstrom continues to be a leading voice in the advancement of care standards for high-risk pregnant women.
