Biography

Katherine Blouin is an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto Scarborough in the Department of Historical and Cultural Studies. She holds a Ph.D. in Roman History from Université Laval, alongside postdoctoral studies in Greek Papyrology at École Pratique des Hautes Études. Blouin's research centers on socio-economic and environmental history, particularly in ancient Roman Egypt. She has authored several works addressing the Judaeo-Alexandrian conflict and has been involved in cataloging, restoring, and digitizing papyrus collections at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France. Blouin is a co-founder and editor of the website Everyday Orientalism and is currently working on a book project titled Inventing Alexandria, which explores the historiography and reception of early Hellenistic Alexandria.
