Biography

Katherine Bowers is an Associate Professor in the Department of Central, Eastern & Northern European Studies at the University of British Columbia. She holds a PhD in Slavic Languages and Literatures from Northwestern University (2011). Her research expertise lies in Russian literature and culture, particularly focusing on the nineteenth century. Bowers has published works in prominent journals such as the Slavic Review and Modern Languages Review, and is currently engaged in writing a monograph examining the gothic influence on Russian realism. She has a strong involvement in Dostoevsky studies, notably through public engagement projects that relate to his works. Prior to her appointment at UBC, she served as a postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Cambridge, where she was also a Research Fellow of Darwin College.
