Biography

Katherine Boyer (Métis/Settler) is a multidisciplinary artist whose work focuses on methods bound within textile arts, primarily woodworking and beadwork. Her art research intertwines personal family narratives with Métis history, material culture, and architectural spaces. Boyer often explores the boundaries of contrasting elements in an effort to understand the complexities of perceived dichotomous identities. Her artistic practice manifests through long, slow, and considerate laborious processes that aim to unravel the influences of history, environment, and personal memory. Boyer holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Regina with a focus on Sculpture and Printmaking, as well as a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Manitoba. She is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Manitoba, where she contributes to the School of Art.
