Biography

Katherine D. Crew, M.D., M.S., is the Avon Products Foundation Professor of Medicine and Epidemiology at Columbia University and the co-associate director for education training at the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center. She is engaged in the treatment of breast cancer and high-risk breast cancer, and has a long-standing interest in designing clinical trials and observational studies focused on breast cancer prevention and survivorship. She holds a B.S. in Biochemistry from Brown University and an M.D. from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, along with an M.S. from the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. Her research focuses on early phase clinical trials evaluating chemopreventive agents for breast cancer, and she is dedicated to identifying high-risk women in primary care settings. Through her work, she aims to adopt risk-appropriate breast cancer screening and prevention strategies, leveraging patient-centered decision aids and support tools embedded in electronic health records.
