Dr. Katherine Darling

Biography

Katy Darling, PhD, is a pediatric psychologist and Assistant Professor of Research at the Weight Control Diabetes Research Center, as well as the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and The Miriam Hospital. Dr. Darling's research is focused on improving the physical and psychosocial health outcomes for youth with higher body weights. She develops interventions to decrease weight bias and stigma among youth, particularly targeting adolescents from low-income backgrounds. She received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Kent State University in 2019, where she also completed her predoctoral psychology internship in Pediatric Psychology. Following this, she undertook a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Dr. Darling is a licensed clinical psychologist in Rhode Island, and her scholarly efforts are dedicated to understanding the health behaviors and needs of vulnerable youth populations.
