Biography

Katherine (Katy) DeCelles is a Professor of Organizational Behaviour at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, where she also serves as the Academic Director of the PhD Program. DeCelles holds the Secretary of State Professorship in Organizational Effectiveness and is cross-appointed to the Centre for Criminology and Sociolegal Studies. Her research focuses on the micro-mechanisms involved in conflict, emotion, morality, inequality, and crime, and has been published in esteemed journals such as Nature, Administrative Science Quarterly, and Psychological Science. Her work has garnered attention from major media outlets including Smithsonian Magazine and CNN. DeCelles has received awards from the Academy of Management and the American Sociological Association and was recognized for her MBA teaching by Poets & Quants in 2018. She has served as Associate Editor for the Academy of Management Journal and is currently involved in the inaugural VMware Women's Leadership Innovation Lab fellowship at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University. With a PhD from the University of Maryland and a BS from Tufts University, she is available for industry projects and PhD student supervision, with research interests spanning Business Ethics, Corporate Social Responsibility, Decision Making, and Gender Diversity.
