Dr. Katherine France

Biography

Katherine France is an Assistant Professor of Oral Medicine at Penn Dental Medicine, having earned her DMD and Master of Bioethics (MBE) from the University of Pennsylvania. She completed her residency in Oral Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, where she also served as chief resident. In recognition of her exemplary contributions to the department, she was awarded the Robert Schattner Award for Outstanding Oral Medicine Resident. Dr. France teaches both clinically and didactically, focusing on Oral Diagnosis, Emergency Medically Complex Clinics, as well as a range of topics related to oral medicine, ethics, and patient management. Her scholarly work examines ethical questions in oral medicine and patient care. Alongside her faculty duties, Dr. France is an attending dentist at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, treating patients with general dentistry needs, medically complex cases, orofacial pain, and various oral lesions at the Penn Dental Family Practice. Her professional recognitions include memberships in the American Academy of Oral Medicine and the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Society, among several awards highlighting her service and mentoring in graduate and professional student life.
