Biography

Katherine Fu is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Georgia Institute of Technology's George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering. She joined Georgia Tech in November 2014 as an Assistant Professor, attaining Associate Professor rank in August 2021. She is also currently an Associate Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Fu completed her Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University in 2012, where she also earned her M.S. in 2009 and her B.S. in 2007. Her research focuses on the engineering design process, cognitive studies, design innovation, and development methods to facilitate effective design. Fu's work integrates various aspects of CAE and design, emphasizing creativity, design theory and methodology, computational design tools, design cognition, and design-by-analogy. She has received several awards including the GT LGBTQIA Faculty/Staff Leadership Award in 2019 and the GT Diversity Champion - Faculty Award in 2018. Fu has also been recognized for her contributions to engineering design and has served as a reviewer for prestigious journals and conferences in her field.
