Biography

Katherine Gifford is an Associate Professor at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine in the Department of Anatomy & Neurobiology. She is a clinical neuropsychologist with research interests focusing on disorders related to aging and dementia. Dr. Gifford's work includes developing tools for the early detection of cognitive impairment and understanding subjective cognitive decline in older adults. She has been involved in independent and collaborative research aiming to enhance the identification of unhealthy aging and to improve health care education for better management of dementias. Prior to her tenure at Boston University, Dr. Gifford served as Associate Professor in Neurology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and co-directed the Vanderbilt Sports Concussion Center. Her educational credentials include a PsyD from Florida Institute of Technology, and she has completed her postdoctoral fellowship in neuropsychology at Boston University and Vanderbilt University. As an established researcher, she has received numerous awards and recognitions for her contributions to the field of geriatric mental health, including the Paul B. Beeson Career Development Award in Aging.
