Dr. Katherine Hammitt

Biography

Katherine Hammitt is a PhD candidate specializing in Comparative Studies in Literature and Culture, with a focus on French Francophone Studies. Her dissertation project, titled 'Sea Separates: Francophone Voices of Oceania,' explores the works of women writers from Ma’ohi Nui (French Polynesia) and Kanaky (New Caledonia). At the University of Southern California, she has taught in the Departments of French, Italian, History, and Comparative Literature. Prior to her time at USC, she served as a lectrice at Université Sorbonne-Nouvelle (Paris 3) in Paris. Katherine's research interests encompass a range of topics including Francophone literature, postcolonial theory, translation studies, transpacific studies, and ecocriticism.
