Dr. Katherine Kozarek

Biography

Katherine Kozarek, MD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at UW–Madison. As Division Chief of Cardiovascular Thoracic Anesthesia, she leads a specialized team dedicated to providing optimal anesthetic care for patients undergoing cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures. Dr. Kozarek is also the Director of the Medical Student Elective Clerkship, where she is involved in teaching and mentoring medical students, enhancing their education in anesthesiology. Her expertise lies in cardiovascular anesthesia, where she applies advanced techniques to manage high-risk patients. Dr. Kozarek is committed to advancing the field through her clinical practice and educational initiatives, fostering a learning environment that emphasizes critical thinking and hands-on experience. In her role, she contributes to the development of curriculum and training programs aimed at improving student competency in anesthesiology.
