Biography

Katherine Martucci is a neuroscientist who specializes in human clinical research on chronic pain, reward motivation behaviors, sensory acute pain perception, and opioid use addiction. Dr. Martucci serves as the Director of the Human Affect Pain Neuroscience Lab, which uses neuroimaging techniques and psychological tests to study pain in humans. Her lab is part of the Center for Translational Pain Medicine and conducts research in collaboration with the Brain Imaging Analysis Center at Duke University. Dr. Martucci earned her Ph.D. in Neurobiology and Anatomy from Wake Forest University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University, where she received the NIH K99 Pathway Independence Award. Since joining Duke University in 2018, she has secured multiple NIH grants for her work in neuroimaging and chronic pain research.
