Biography

Katherine Milkman is a Professor of Operations, Information Decisions at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and holds a secondary appointment at Penn's Perelman School of Medicine. Her research significantly relies on big data to document systematic ways people deviate from making optimal choices. Professor Milkman's work has placed particular emphasis on factors that lead to self-control failures, such as undersaving for retirement and unhealthy eating habits. Additionally, she has explored themes of race and gender discrimination, focusing on how the context of decisions influences the manifestation of bias.
