Dr. Katherine Ramos

Biography

Katherine Ramos is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, Department of Population Health Sciences, and Department of Medicine at Duke University. She is also a member of the Duke Cancer Institute and a Senior Fellow at the Center for the Study of Aging and Human Development. Dr. Ramos completed an Advanced Fellowship Program in Geriatrics at the Durham Veterans Administration Medical Center and earned her Ph.D. from the University of Houston. Her research interests primarily focus on the psychological and behavioral processes that support caregivers and patients dealing with serious illnesses such as cancer and traumatic brain injury. She is actively involved in multiple federally funded research projects aimed at improving communication and coping strategies among patients and their families. Dr. Ramos has previously held positions as an Assistant Professor in various departments and has contributed significantly to professional activities, including serving on committees for the American Psychological Association and the Society for Behavioral Medicine. Her work aims to address the complex needs of aging populations and their caregivers in healthcare settings.
