Biography

Katherine Sanders is a reproductive biologist at the University of Western Australia, where she has been a lecturer since 2002. She completed her BSc (Hons) and PhD at the same university. From July 2013 to March 2023, she led the prestigious Bachelor of Philosophy (Honours) program for high-achieving students. In 2023, she returned to a teaching-intensive role within the School of Human Sciences and currently serves as the co-chair for Learning and Teaching. Her research interests are primarily focused on human reproduction, emphasizing the effects of psychosocial and energetic stress on fertility, as well as the lifestyle factors influencing outcomes in Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART). She has collaborated extensively with ART clinics in Western Australia and her work aims to improve understanding of family composition and child survival in rural Timor-Leste. Sanders has successfully secured funding from various organizations, including USAID and the Australian Research Council.
