Biography

Katherine (Katie) Siddle is an assistant professor in the Department of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology at Brown University. Her research focuses on the emergence and evolution of pathogens, particularly viruses, and the selective pressures they exert on infected hosts. Katie's work integrates the analysis of large biological data sets with experimental fieldwork to examine the genetic diversity of emerging viruses and how host-pathogen genetic variation affects disease severity. She joined Brown University in January 2023 after serving as a postdoctoral fellow at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard under the guidance of Pardis Sabeti. Katie holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Philosophy in Biological Anthropology from the University of Cambridge, UK, and a Ph.D. in human immunogenomics from the Institut Pasteur and Université Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris, France.
