Kathleen Fisch is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at UC San Diego. She serves as Faculty Director of the ACTRI Center for Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, and as Co-Director of the UC San Diego Center for Perinatal Discovery. Her research aims to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying pregnancy disorders and exposures, with the goal of improving maternal and child health across the lifespan. The focus of her lab is on exploring the role of somatic mutations in placental dysfunction and identifying non-invasive biomarkers for placental disorders. Prior to her current position, she completed her B.A. in Integrative Biology at the University of California, Berkeley, and her Ph.D. in Ecology with a focus on population genetics at the University of California, Davis. She has also undergone postdoctoral training in population genomics at the San Diego Zoo Institute for Conservation Research and in computational genomics and bioinformatics at the Scripps Research Department of Molecular and Experimental Medicine.
