Biography

Kathleen Hanik is an Instructional Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Sport Management at Texas A&M University. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ballet from the University of Utah and a Master of Fine Arts in Dance from Florida State University, she brings a wealth of expertise to her teaching role. Kathleen is passionate about promoting health and wellness through movement. She teaches a variety of courses including Introduction to Science Health and Fitness, Art Movement, and activities such as Pilates, Barre, Yoga, and Dance. Additionally, she serves as the faculty advisor for the Fade Black Hip Hop Dance Ensemble, fostering creativity and expression among her students. Kathleen has a rich professional background as a dancer, having performed with organizations such as the New York Theatre Ballet and Suzanne Farrell Ballet. In the fall semesters of 2022 and 2023, she co-led a seminar for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities as part of the Aggie ACHIEVE program. Her outstanding teaching has been recognized with the 2023 Emil Mamaliga Outstanding Teacher Award.
