Dr. Kathleen Kantak

Biography

Kathleen Kantak is a Professor at Boston University in the College of Arts and Sciences, specializing in Psychological and Brain Sciences. She obtained her PhD from Syracuse University and has developed a significant academic career since joining Boston University as an Assistant Professor in 1982. Kantak founded the Laboratory of Behavioral Neuroscience and has held affiliations with various interdisciplinary programs including the Center for Neuroscience and the Graduate Training Program in Biomolecular Pharmacology. Her research primarily focuses on the cognitive aspects of addiction-related behavior, with an emphasis on translational research that utilizes cross-species behavioral models to explore the cognitive mechanisms associated with drug abuse. Additionally, she holds an appointment at Harvard Medical School in the Department of Psychiatry, contributing to research in the Division of Behavioral Biology at the New England Primate Research Center. Throughout her career, she has received substantial grant funding from the National Institute on Drug Abuse to study drug addiction and treatment modalities.
