Dr. Kathleen Klinich

Biography

Kathleen Klinich has 35 years of experience in the field of occupant protection. Her research has addressed occupant safety for vulnerable populations, including children, pregnant women, and individuals with disabilities. She possesses expertise in analyzing crash injury data to identify emerging patterns, particularly in relation to the deployment of automated vehicles and correlating these patterns with socioeconomic factors. Dr. Klinich has served as the principal investigator and collaborating researcher on 60 projects at the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute (UMTRI). Her experience includes leading and managing projects, preparing reports and presentations, conducting literature reviews, performing laboratory testing, developing test procedures, designing experiments, and performing statistical analysis of data. She also has a strong background in technical writing and has developed UMTRI’s 508 Compliance Plan and associated training programs, acting as the quality assurance lead and technical editor for recent projects.
