Dr. Kathleen O Brien

Biography

Kathleen O'Brien is a senior lecturer in the Academic Unit of General Practice at the Australian National University. With a background as a general practitioner, Kathleen has cultivated a strong interest in primary health care research, combining her statistical expertise with her medical practice. Before entering medical school, she worked as a statistician and data analyst, which sparked her desire to contribute to academia and research in the field. Kathleen has been actively involved in various projects, including examining factors influencing the choice of specialty training programs for prevocational doctors and conducting research on respiratory syncytial virus in Australia. She has published numerous works and serves as an associate editor for the Australian Journal of Primary Health. Kathleen is committed to enhancing the understanding of preventive health and the social determinants of health, especially in relation to children's health.
