Biography

Dr. Kathleen Potempa, a Professor and Dean Emerita at the University of Michigan School of Nursing, leads an impactful research program focused on population health, particularly in the context of non-communicable diseases and gerontology. She has received significant funding from national bodies, including the U.S. National Institutes of Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, totaling over $13 million, to advance her work with physically impaired populations. As a primary investigator, she actively engages in studies aimed at building research capacity in global health, specifically in countries like Thailand and India. Her scholarly contributions include over 140 scientific publications and presentations, establishing her as a leader in her field.
