Dr. Kathleen Schneider

Biography

Kathleen Schneider is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis. As a clinician educator, she precepts and mentors physician assistant students at the UC Davis Medical Center's Intensive Care Unit (ICU), providing comprehensive care for patients. Schneider, a certified physician assistant since 2017, has been involved in healthcare since 2011. She previously served as an adjunct instructor at Saint Louis University, where she guided students in the ICU at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Her dedication to teaching has been fueled by a desire to apply evidence-based practices to prepare future healthcare providers. Schneider's career in healthcare began as an emergency department scribe at a level II trauma center in San Jose, California, where she completed her undergraduate degree. After becoming an emergency medical technician in the greater Bay Area, she pursued physician assistant training. After graduation, she joined the Anesthesiology Department's Critical Care team at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, where she spent over five years in various ICUs within the hospital network. She earned a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Saint Louis University and a Bachelor of Science from Santa Clara University. Schneider is published for her work on 'Improving Information Transfer in Intensive Care-to-Floor Transfer' and is affiliated with the American Academy of Physician Assistants. Throughout her time at Washington University, she received multiple awards as an ICU physician assistant at Barnes Jewish Hospital.
