Biography

Kathleen Welsh-Bohmer is a clinically trained neuropsychologist and a Professor of Psychiatry and Neurology at Duke University. Her research primarily focuses on developing effective prevention and treatment strategies to delay the onset of cognitive disorders throughout life. From 2006 to 2018, she directed the Joseph and Kathleen Bryan Alzheimer’s Center within the Department of Neurology, where she oversaw neuropsychology and scientific operations for a groundbreaking Phase III global clinical trial aimed at delaying early clinical symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease, known as the TOMMORROW study. Currently, she directs the Alzheimer's disease therapeutic area at the Duke Clinical Research Institute and actively collaborates with VeraSci, a Durham-based company, to develop reliable digital cognitive functional assessment tools for early Alzheimer's disease-related dementias. Her work has significant implications for clinical practice and aims to accelerate global clinical trials focused on the prevention of Alzheimer's disease-related dementias.
