Dr. Kathryn Bewley

Biography

Kathryn Bewley is a Professor Emerita in the Department of Accounting at the Ted Rogers School of Management, Toronto Metropolitan University. She has a PhD in accounting from the University of Waterloo and has been deeply engaged in research focused on the intersection of environmental challenges and financial reporting. Dr. Bewley's work examines how organizations utilize information and approaches in accounting to enhance their environmental performance. She has contributed significantly to the field by exploring various aspects of financial environmental reporting and the role of accounting in sustainable practices. Before her academic career, Dr. Bewley had a robust professional background in auditing, including involvement in Canada’s auditing standard-setting board. She has co-authored several influential textbooks and contributed numerous articles to leading journals, addressing topics such as fair value accounting and environmental disclosures. Her dedication to advancing knowledge in accounting and auditing standards is reflected in her long-standing involvement with professional associations and research funding initiatives.
