Biography

Kathryn Bracht is a Professor at the University of Regina, specializing in Acting and Directing within the Department of Theatre. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting from the University of British Columbia and a Master of Fine Arts in Directing from the University of Alberta. Bracht has an extensive background as a professional theatre actor and director in Western Canada. Her research interests include physical theatre, ethnographic theatre, solo performance, devising, and new play development. Bracht's creative work has involved playwriting and she has participated in numerous projects including Persephone Theatre’s Playwright’s Unit where her one-act play, 'Draw Near,' was showcased. In 2018, she was honored by having her latest work-in-progress, 'Seed,' performed in a staged reading at the Women Playwright’s International Conference in Santiago, Chile.
