Biography

Kathryn M. E. Dominguez is the Marina von Neumann Whitman Distinguished University Professor of Public Policy and a Professor of Economics at the University of Michigan. She also serves as the Director of the Undergraduate Honors Program. Dominguez received her Ph.D. in Economics from Yale University in 1987 and her A.B. from Vassar College in 1982. She joined the University of Michigan faculty in 1997 after teaching at Harvard. Her research focuses on macroeconomics and global financial markets, with particular emphasis on the determinants of cross-border financial flows, macroeconomic forecasting, and the efficacy of foreign exchange rate intervention policies. She has recently examined the effects of central bank policies during the pandemic on traditional expansionary measures. Additionally, Dominguez is a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and serves on the Panel of Economic Advisors for the Congressional Budget Office and the Advisory Scientific Committee of the European Systemic Risk Board.
