Professor Dr. Kathryn Harrison

Biography

Kathryn Harrison is a Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of British Columbia. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Western Ontario, a Master's in Chemical Engineering and Political Science from MIT, and a PhD in Political Science from the University of British Columbia. Her research focuses on environmental, climate, and energy policy, as well as federalism and comparative public policy. Dr. Harrison is a published author, with notable works including 'Passing the Buck: Federalism and Canadian Environmental Policy' and 'Risk, Science, and Politics: Regulating Toxic Substances in Canada and the United States.' She frequently contributes to major journals such as Nature Climate Change and Science. Furthermore, Dr. Harrison has served in various administrative roles at UBC, including acting Dean of Arts and Senior Associate Dean of Faculty Equity. She has received several prestigious awards throughout her career, including the King Charles III coronation medal and the International Studies Association Engaged Scholar Award. Her extensive experience also includes advising various levels of government and serving on editorial boards for prominent journals.
