Biography

Kate Heinze is an Associate Professor in Sport Management at the University of Michigan, specializing in organizational and institutional change in sports. Her research examines how individuals and organizations respond to and lead changes in fields such as player safety, corporate social responsibility, esports, and Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL). Her work has been published in reputable journals including the Journal of Sport Management and Sport Management Review. Heinze has also served as an Associate Editor for the European Sport Management Review and is on the editorial review board for the Journal of Sport Management. As a North American Society for Sport Management Research Fellow, she has been recognized with the Administrative Science Quarterly Award for Scholarly Contribution and the Geertz Prize Article from the American Sociological Association. She holds an MA and PhD in Management and Organizations from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a BA (Hons) in Organizational Studies from the University of Michigan. Additionally, Heinze is a faculty affiliate with the Organizational Studies Program in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts and a faculty associate with the Center for Positive Organizations at the Ross School of Business.
