Dr. Kathryn Thompson

Biography

Kathryn D. Thompson is an Adjunct Assistant Professor specializing in Health Services and Policy Practice. As an interdisciplinary health services researcher, Dr. Thompson utilizes methodologically rigorous approaches to collect and analyze research results. Her research employs health services research and population health science to elucidate both macrolevel and microlevel determinants of health inequities. By leveraging economic frameworks, she quantitatively examines how various social, demographic, and policy contexts shape health disparities, particularly among women, people of color, and Medicaid populations. Furthermore, her work investigates how social identities—such as race/ethnicity—and social positions—like socioeconomic status—uniquely structure healthcare access, utilization, and outcomes. Dr. Thompson completed her PhD in Health Services Research at Brown University School of Public Health in May 2023 and holds a Bachelor of Science earned in 2014 and a Master's in Health Administration obtained in 2017, both from the University of Central Florida.
