Biography

Kathy Babiak is a Professor of Sport Management and the Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs at the University of Michigan's School of Kinesiology. She is the Director of the Michigan Center for Sport & Social Responsibility and co-founder of the Sport, Health, and Activity Research Policy (SHARP) Center focused on women and girls. With a PhD in Leisure and Sport Management from the University of British Columbia, Babiak has published numerous articles in leading peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Sport Management and the Journal of Business Ethics. She serves as an associate editor for the European Sport Management Quarterly and is involved with various sport management organizations, including the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM). Babiak is recognized for her contributions to corporate social responsibility in professional sports and has received significant grant funding for her research. Her work explores how organizations can develop social responsibility strategies that benefit both society and the organizations themselves. Recently, Babiak has focused on the CSR activities of major sports leagues and teams and their impact on social issues such as mental health and physical activity.
