Dr. Kathy Berger

Biography

Kathy Berger is a trained human geographer with a particular interest in development studies and collaborative learning. Her research focuses on strengthening engagement in learning within urban settings and is grounded in close collaboration with cities such as Tshwane (South Africa) and Aarhus (Denmark). She applies arts-based participatory approaches to support biodiverse and resilient urban landscapes. Berger has experience in stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and collaborative process design through her PhD research, particularly within European research policy contexts. She is motivated by interactive, practice-oriented teaching and values learning environments where students actively apply concepts, reflect on their experiences, and learn in collaborative teaching and co-supervisory roles.
