Biography

Kathy Ferreira is the Director of the Queen's Prison Law Clinic (QPLC) with over 20 years of experience in the field. She began her career at QPLC in 2003 as a Staff Lawyer, where she managed her own caseload at Warkworth Institution and engaged in direct representation, ensuring regular client interactions. Kathy clerked at the Superior Court of Central West and has also worked briefly at the Downtown Toronto Legal Aid Research Facility. In addition to her legal practice, Kathy enjoys teaching Law 418, supervising dedicated students in QPLC. She is actively involved in the prison law community, coordinating with the John Howard Society in Kingston and participating on LAO’s Prison Law Advisory Committee and Test-Case Committee. She is passionate about expanding the clinic’s litigation capacity and also oversees the pilot course of Advanced Prison Law (Law 419).
